Senator Clinton Introduces Legislation to Support Mass Transit
Analysis & Commentary | AnnouncementsOn June 26, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Save Energy through Public Transportation Act (H.R. 6052). This Act would give needed federal aid to public transportation systems coast to coast. The MTA would receive $237 million.
Senator Clinton has now introduced a Senate version of the bill. Swift passage by the Senate would ensure that America’s public transportation systems keep rolling at a time when fuel costs have more than doubled.
TWU Local 100 strongly supported passage of the House bill. We commend Senator Clinton for her action and call for the Senate to move this legislation in timely fashion.
Senator Clinton’s announcement follows.
